We all want beautiful, shiny, long hair like on Instagram pictures, but then we are unfortunate with a weak, damaged hair that takes a “million” years to grow one centimetre. My hair story…
One and half a year ago my hair was a complete disaster. It was damaged due to constant colouring and bleaching which caused split ends. Overall, it did not look bad. I was always careful not to overuse a hair straightener, always dried my hair naturally and regularly used hair masks and conditioners. The length was always till the shoulders and every inch of my hair was very important to me. However, there was no growth. Moreover, I was going through a stressful period and my hair started falling off. I was looking in a shrub of hair in my hand after brushing and feeling defeated. Sounds familiar, right?
Yet, i did not wanna give up. I collected all my strength and decided to fight in all fronts in “hair growth” battle. I made a decision not to stress more and finally stopped measuring every inch. After some time, i started noticing an improvement. My hair stopped falling off and started growing. Six months later, my hair was regenerated and many people noticed that it grew and looks shiny. I was so happy! What i did to make the difference? For all of you who is in the same “battlefield”, I’m presenting to you best tips on how to repair damaged hair and grow your hair faster. It worked on me and I’m sure it will not harm you, as well.
First of all, you should realize that growing hair requires time and that starring at it daily will not help! Those who claim that can help you grow 5 inches in just one month are just big liars! It’s the 21st century and you still believe in fairy tales?! Hair can grow only 0,5 – 1,5 centimetre in one month and promising more than that is simply impossible!
Hair growth depends on genes, stress factor, your overall health, what you eat, how do you treat your hair and many other factors. If your mother or grandmother had a weak, thin, curly hair then most probably you can not have a long, shiny, straight hair neither.
It’s a matter of genetic factor and stressing about it will not make the situation better. Actually, stressing can cause more damage if you are suffering from hair loss. What you can do is to accept what you have and take care of that. Good news is that you can do a lot to look better, but expecting hair from shampoo commercials in 95% is simply impossible. Thus, do not pay too much attention to it. It might sound contradictory, but when you stop noticing that your hair is not growing, it will start to grow.
2. Check your eating habits.
Changing your eating habits will definitely improve your body health and consequently condition of your hair. If you eat unhealthy food you can’t expect to have long hair or nails, clear skin. Ya, ya…
Taking vitamins and proteins are crucial in your diet in order of hair growth. You should eat fruits, vegetables, proteins every single day. It may seem to you that diet is not tied to faster hair growth, but it makes a big difference. Since the hair consists of protein, be sure to have them enough through the diet.
The best food for long hair
Proteins that you should include in your diet include eggs, peas, walnuts. If you are not a vegetarian then also meats with less fat such as chicken, turkey and fish. This food stimulates the healthy production of keratin, which is very important for faster hair growth. Good fats are important for the overall health, and so the health of your hair.
Omega 3 fatty acids are great for faster hair growth, but also for your hair to be healthy and beautiful. Saturated fats, trans fatty acids and hydrogenated fats are an example of fat that you should avoid. In addition, good fats will help you get enough vitamins A, D, E and K into your diet, which is needed for faster hair growth.
Iron and zinc are necessary for faster hair growth. Iron is responsible for delivering oxygen to your cells, from your toes to the hair follicles. 3. To cut your hair or not to cut your hair – the question is.
You’ve often heard that hair grows faster if you regularly cut it. Earlier, i was feeling uncomfortable whenever i felt dryness in my hair and immediately run to the hair salon to trim it. I believed that frequent haircut will make my hair grow longer and faster. Well, it’s a myth. You can not expect to have long hair if you go to a hairdresser every two-three months and cut all the hair that grew in that time!
Prolonging a hair cut will not affect the state of your hair dramatically. For example, if you trim 2 or 3 cm of your hair every 6 months you will have 3 cm
However, all the other aspects of hair care routine are very important in order to postpone trimming. How often should you visit a hairdresser depends solely on how much your hair is healthy and how fast you want to grow. Of course, a regular haircut is very important for your hair to look healthy and therefore cut your hair if you need. Then, take care of it properly so that your hairdresser can be more moderate with scissors in the future. The formula is simple – if you protect your hair from breaking, you will have to cut it less, and it will grow faster.
4. Carefully with washing.
Do you realy need to wash your hair that much often or you just like how you feel when your hair is freshly washed? Let us be honest, washing hair each day is unnecessary. I doubt that someone is having that much dirty hair that he or she needs to wash it every day. If yes, most probably you will not have a problem with hair growth because oily hair usually grows faster. Keeping natural oils is the key to strong and healthy hair, but if your hair gets greasy rapidly, you will have to skip this rule because too much oil can be harmful to hair growth.
Try to avoid washing your hair as much as you can. The day when you notice dirty parts of hair just tap gently a baby powder or corn starch into the roots. It will postpone hair washing for at least one day.
Choose products that contain healthy hair ingredients, such as avocado oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil and olive oil. These ingredients will help keep moisture and oil in your hair and reduce cracked ends and other hair damage. Recently, I’ve discovered a shampoo from Yves Rocher that contains organically grown jojoba oil. It’s paraben free, removes the dirt efficiently, and keeps my hair fresh at least 3 days.
5. How do you brush your hair?
Not in any circumstance do not comb a wet hair. Going through a wet hair will damage it
Instead of rubbing just tap it gently with the towel gently or even better an old T-shirt! Now, you are asking what is wrong with the towel? Well, apparently putting freshly washed hair into turban causes so much breakage in your hair. Your hair gets caught in all the woven fibres and all those tiny, fragile strands around your face are more prone to break. Also, consider swapping your cotton pillowcases with the satin one.
6. Avoid the heat if you want to grow your hair.
Your hair probably looks fantastic after ironing, blowing or curling. However, all this is very bad for your hair because it causes its thinning or even loss of hair, especially if it is done incorrectly. Challenge yourself and try not to use a straightener or a hair dryer for one month. It might sound hard, but it is not impossible.
Instead of straightening, make a bun or use next trick: wrap your wet hair in a low ponytail and put one rubber band at the beginning of the ponytail, second in the middle of the hair and third at the ends. Leave it natural to dry. This will correct wavy hair without the use of hair and iron. Also, stop colouring and bleaching your hair completely. Let the hear to rest for a couple of months. 7. Use right hair care products

Conditioner and hair masks: After washing a hair it’s a must to apply a conditioner if you wish to grow your hair. All products need to fit the type of your hair. Avoid using cheap products that are nothing but pure sulphur and soap. Hair masks should be applied once in a week, not more than that. Hair protector and serum are also required tools whenever you wash your hair. If u need to use a hair straightener or a dryer always apply a cream or spray for protection.
You do not need to use expensive products for good results. I always use Pantene hair spray or cream and it works for me. et hair immediately cracks if it is exposed to high temperature. This causes split ends and, thus you need a spray or cream that will serve as a shield to hair follicular against the heat. After hair dry, do not forget to put the serum whose effect is filling the hair follicle and smoothing the hair.
8. Include bot nutritious and protein mask in your hair care routine
Nutritious hair mask usually consists of oils and helps to hydrate dry hair in order to become shinier, silkier and prevent split end. Hair masks or treatments with olive oil, jojoba oil, avocado, honey, egg are part of this category.
Protein hair mask from the other side is based on keratin, which is the main building hair material (80-90%). Due to external influences (heat, cold, using heat, chlorine, and hair ageing) the hair loses keratin, becomes porous, damaged, fragile and white dots appear at the ends. Who needs protein products? If the hair is thin, damaged, exposed to other things that can damage the hair, it is necessary to use a quality product that has the proteins in the first half of the list of ingredients. 9. Make anti-hair loss shampoo.
As mentioned earlier,
- Panthenol spray
- AD vitamines (you can find in capsules in most of the pharmacies)
- Castor oil
- Olive oil
- Baby shampoo (optional)
Put all ingredients in a bigger spray bottle and apply once in a week. Optional, you can mix it with the baby shampoo and use it to wash your hair. Why is good? Panthenol is a product widely used in many other products for hair and skincare. It’s the derivative of vitamin B5 that helps your body become more nutrient rich. As a result, your skin and hair will become healthier looking.
Different oils serve your hair…
From a microbiological perspective, your cells will be healthier, stronger and will even be able to regenerate faster after using Panthenol. Vitamin E and D are best known for their antioxidant properties that help reduce free radical damage and protect the body’s cells. Although you can find it in the supplement aisle, many companies add vitamin E to their beauty products as well.
Castor oil has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties and is high in vitamin E, minerals, proteins, and omega-6 and -9 beneficial fatty acids. Its unusually high ricinoleic acid ratio makes it beneficial to skin and hair. In fact, castor oil has traditionally been used topically for acne and other skin conditions, as well as hair loss, rashes, and more.

10. Always use cold water
Do a cold-water rinse at the end of each shower. This speed up the blood circulation and help to grow hair and keep long hair healthy for longer. Cold water lays down the outer layer of hair more smoothly, which helps prevent moisture loss, snags and heat damage. Remember to avoid using hot water when washing your hair, because it will make it drier. Instead, squeeze your teeth and use lukewarm water to wash your hair and a cold one to rinse it at the end. You only need to do it for a few seconds, but this will make a huge difference in your hair condition.
