If you check out my Instagram page you will realize how much I love smoothies and smoothie bowls. It’s a super easy and delicious breakfast, full of vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. Smoothie bowls can be made in thousands of ways with different ingredients: fruits, vegetables.. sweet, salty… it’s up to you to choose the one that works best for you or invent a brand new one because a smoothie bowl is a totally creative culinary creation.
The concept of smoothie bowl has become popular over the last couple of years, and I’m totally obsessed with it! Why? Because you already have all the groceries at home, you only need a good blender and 5 minutes of time. Let’s be honest, smoothies are delicious food, but do you feel like you really had a meal after just drinking a smoothie?
For this occasion, I’ve listed some healthy and delicious recipes for you to help cleanse your body and refresh it… maybe after unhealthy eating? Don’t worry about the right measurements – over time you will gain experience in the dosage of ingredients.
Mango – Peach smoothie bowl
Nothing is associated as much with summer as the yellow color and scent of tropical fruits – peaches, bananas, and mangoes.
I love the refreshing taste of mangoes and fortunately here in Qatar, this fruit is available in all supermarkets at a great price. In my country, you will feel broke if you buy half a kilo, ‘coz’ it’s so expensive, dude!
Anyhow, mango combined with peach is an ideal summer treat or morning meal.
- You will need:
- 1 ripe mango (you will find it ripe if it is medium-hard and has a typical sweet candy aroma),
- 1 medium-sized peach,
- 1 banana,
- 1 cup of coconut milk or almond milk
- 1 tbsp of honey for a sweeter taste.
Method: Blend for about 1 minute and you will get a creamy texture that you can pour into a bowl. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Before pouring the toppings, I like to let the mass solidify in the fridge. Once the mass seems ticker, you can use crunchie muesli, oatmeal, your favorite nuts to decorate. I decorated the smoothie bowl with peach slices, ground almonds, and coconut leaves. Who needs to go to the Maldives to feel exotic?
Banana Strawberry smoothie bowl
The combination of strawberries and bananas is certainly a classic among smoothies and its variation, and I’m sure you already made it at least once. However, if you want to try a bit different taste, try to add 2-3 dates or 2-3 spoons od dates paste. This way the structure will be more creamy and thicker.
- 1 frozen banana,
- 1 cup fresh strawberries,
- 1 apple,
- 2-3 dates,
- 1 scoop “whey” protein powder,
- 1/2 tbsp cinnamon,
- 1 cup of coconut milk.
Place all the ingredients into your blender and blend for about 1-2 minutes.
Pour into a bowl and garnish with strawberries, oatmeal, and a spoon of melted peanut butter. You will get a crispy and high – protein breakfast that will keep you full until lunch.
Pumpkin-carrot smoothie bowl
All right, pumpkin is not a common ingredient in a smoothie bowl recipes, but give it a shot. Trust me you’ll love it!
It’s a pumpkin season, so you will find everywhere, and there is no other food that is more symbol of autumn and Halloween holidays. Pumpkin and carrots are not just reserved for dinner or in a pie. They can be perfect and complete breakfast.
I love pumpkin, carrot, zucchini, and melon because they are juicy and sweet taste. These are easily digestible foods, which is great if you are on a diet. Besides, the lycopene and beta-carotene in it will ensure that your skin looks glowy and tanned. So it is advisable that these foods be eaten more in the summer period because it helps you to achieve a healthy “sun-kissed” look.
For this smoothie bowl you need:
- 200-300 grams of pumpkin (you can even use leftovers from the dinner)
- 2 small boiled carrots,
- 1 ripe banana to make the structure as creamy as possible,
- a cup of almond or soya milk,
- ½ cinnamon and a teaspoon of honey if you prefer a sweet taste.
Mix all well in your blender for about a minute or two and pour into your favorite bowl. Leave it in the fridge to tighten the mass and then decorate with your favorite toppings. If you don’t have time to boil the carrots, you can put the fresh one, however, your blender needs to be a strong one (such as NutriBullet).
As a topping, I added some crunchie muesli, dried papaya, 6 -7 almonds, and some baked pumpkin. The combination of the pumpkin tenderness, crunchiness of the nuts and cinnamon aroma makes full and complete delight. It’s a perfect breakfast idea for a cozy morning in the autumn atmosphere.
Cherry smoothie bowl
I like the cherries because it is a real summer food, refreshing and full of Vitamin C and antioxidants. You can make this smoothie bowl as a breakfast or as an ideal substitute for a sweet if you are on a weight loss diet. Ii will satisfy your sweet craving and not ruin your diet.
- 300 g fresh cherries,
- ½ banana,
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 squeezed orange
- 6 teaspoons ground hazelnut
- 100 ml of almond milk
Remove the seeds from the cherries and graze the banana. Then, assemble the fruits and blend. Add cinnamon and orange juice to it and whisk with a stick mixer. When the mixture becomes homogeneous and creamy, add ground hazelnuts and milk. Continue to blend until you achieve a smooth texture and homogeneity. If the mixture is too thick, add a little milk to achieve the desired density.
You can’t go wrong with toppings! Feel free to add some fresh cherries, sliced bananas, some chocolate granola, chia seeds, flaked coconut, greek yogurt and of course, a big drizzle of melted caramel. Use whatever is convenient and sounds good to you.
