When I think of casual outfits, I somehow always think of it as a combination of formal and informal attire. Joining the workwear with our favorite garments while we go out, catch up with friends, go for a drink…
Last year I bought an oversized Pull&Bear blazer, which I hardly ever wear. Work attire or anything like that was never my favorite thing. After pairing with the right clothes, it turns out that this “abandoned” piece of clothing can actually be wearable on daily occasions. Even when we do not have a “9-5” job.
We all know that blazers are the basics of every women’s wardrobe, but many women wear it in a very boring way. A long blazer or oversized blazer is a more relaxed type of blazer and much more inspiring in creating cool casual outfits. It is trending many seasons, but it’s important what you wear with it in order to achieve a stylish look. When I say oversized blazer, I mean a jacket of longer length with loose silhouette.
If you’re ready to try this stylish and chic style of wearing oversized blazers, here are some tips and tricks to create the best casual outfits.
Oversized blazer + Culottes
Since i live in a Middle Eastern country, what you will wear outside should be carefully chosen. The dress code is very conservative and strict, but you can read more about it in my other post What to wear in Doha. My favorite and most comfortable garments are culottes. They are in line with the dress code here and combined with the oversized blazer provide the chic and casual outfit that, i would say, is appropriate for work, as well.
Add to that black moccasin, a black bag that can fit everything in and voila! You have a chic and elegant outfit that is eqully very comfortable and in which you can “have all the work done”.
Long blazer + White Skinny jeans
A great way to style any type of blazer is with tight jeans. Sometimes the length of your jacket can make an illusion of extra pounds, even if you are skinny. The best way to show a lean body is to wear tight jeans. Wearing white pants with some T-shirt is a great way to keep your eye focused on lean legs that help eliminate the “thickness” you’ve gained with an oversized blazer.
Long Blazer + Mom Jeans
Although wearing tight jeans is the best way to combine any jacket in a larger size, comfy “mom jeans” also look great paired with an oversized blazer. Although the jeans are wide, they give the body a balanced look. Add a plain or a printed tee and flats, sneakers, moccasins or even heels, and your cool casual outfit is done! Play with colors, shoes or with bags – it’s up to you to create a look that you like. I have chosen here Bershka Daddy snickers, which I recently wear everywhere, a white T-shirt and a classic small bag which I just like to toss over my shoulder.
Now that you know how to style oversized blazers, you have to get one. And remember the important thing – it’s all about length. Most long blazers will look best when paired with knee-length or above garments. Let me know if you liked any of these looks! 🙂
