Did you wake up this morning and your reflection in the mirror scared you? Do you try to remove the stubborn dark circles under your eyes? Many women encounter this issue and use all kinds of makeup to hide them. Even red lipstick is considered as a sort of concealer but let’s face the fact that this is not a long term solution. It’s is possible to get rid of dark eye circles very easy or at least make them less visible.
Is genetics the main cause of dark areas around the eyes? Kind of. Unfortunately, in my family, wrinkles and puffy eyes are inherited, although there are many causes of their occurrence.
This unattractive phenomenon appears because of sleepless nights, smoking, inadequate or incomplete facial cleansing, due to illness and genetics. Such a way of life almost certainly guarantees the appearance of wrinkles or puffy eyes that is difficult to remove. What they have in common – you do not want them!
Healthy diet to prevent dark eye circles
The first step in removing the dark eyes circle is to bring the organism into balance. That means enough sleep (at least 8 hours!), avoiding cigarettes, proper diet (no spicy or salty food), reduced alcohol consumption. Further, try to do your daily exercise outdoor on fresh and clean air instead of suffocating in a stinky gym!

Taking enough juices and water is crucial to get rid of dark eye circles. If you drink 1,5 liter of water or freshly cut juices, in a couple of days you will see the shift. Try to minimize the amount of coffee you are drinking every day because of its diuretic effect.
If you are not used to drinking a lot of water try to use this trick: squeeze one orange into 1,5 liter of water and drink it throughout the day. It’s tasty and you will lose weight, as well! Smoothies are also a great way to start a healthier lifestyle. You can find some easy and delicious recipes for the best body detox in one of my previous blog posts. These smoothies will make you feel better and look better, I promise!
Night eye skincare routine
The next logical step in removing dark eye circles is proper skincare, especially at night time. It may not be large, but the eye area is one of the most diligent areas on our face. Did you know that our area around the eye makes about 10,000 blinks a day? Wow! With this everyday effort, the gentle skin of the eye area is particularly sensitive to sunlight and damage caused by UV rays, as it is so thin. This makes it one of the first areas where signs of aging occur.
The skin of the eye area is more sensitive, fragile and more vulnerable to damage caused by external factors. Since the eye area has different needs from the rest of your face, your usual moisturizing care will not satisfy all the needs of protecting this sensitive area. Thus, you need to implement in your skincare products that are specially designed for the delicate eye area.
The importance of night skincare in removing wrinkles and dark undereye areas
My favorite item in the diminishing unattractive dark under-eye circles and improving the overall appearance of the eyes is Yoko’s eye gel. It is a super light formula that perfectly absorbs in the skin and helps against the first signs of skin aging. It contains white granules that are melting by the skin warmth. The gel is enriched with natural extracts containing special moisturizing ingredients. Help reduce puffiness and minimize fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Did, I mention that is super affordable too?
What matters is that it has a peppermint effect that speeds up the blood circulation in that part of the face, which makes this gel so effective. Therefore, if you have a feeling that your skin is itchy, do not panic! It’s just a cooling effect! I like to apply the gel using gentle patting motions in the morning and evening. I find it very refreshing and soothing for my skin.
Hydration, my darling…
The following step you wanna do to get rid of dark eye circles and wrinkles is hydration. You might think that applying any face cream will be good enough to prevent wrinkles, but you will be wrong. You do not wash your face with a shower gel, right? Applying the usual day cream to the area around your eyes will not be effective as cream targeting exact areas on your face.

When looking for an eye area cream that targets some of the most common problems of this area, it’s important to choose the right ingredients. Choose gel texture creams or creams that get easily absorbed into the skin. Also, do not apply too much, but rather often. Finally, the combination of effective eye cream – ideally enriched with active ingredients – and regular facial massages are a great way to prevent the formation of lines and wrinkles, as well as how to treat puffiness and dark eye circles.
Since my under eye skin is still not old, I like to use eye creams that have a moisturizing effect and prevent wrinkles. It is always better to start on time with skincare treatments. I always use Eye Cream by Boots Expert Skincare with nourishing avocado which is super light and has a non-greasy effect on my skin. I like to apply it in the evening as a part of my bedtime routine.
It’s especially useful to apply face and eye mask before you go to bed and leave it overnight. The night is the time when the skin is being regenerated and the effect of the products is being doubled. I like to use Moisture Overnight Mask with aloe vera from H&M Face Mask Collection once a week. It comes into a cute package with two other face masks: Gentle Scrub Mask with jojoba beads, and Purifying Mud Mask. In the morning my skin is very soft and hydrated and it smells amazing!
There are numerous cosmetic treatments against wrinkles and dark eye circles – from botox, massage, injection of collagen, hyaluronic acid, mesotherapy to various creams with active ingredients that are supposed to erase years from your face. All of these can be very expensive. Instead of emptying your bank account for one eye treatment you can try some homemade natural masks that can prevent and reduce the visibility of lines. Here are some who have proved to be the most effective.
Squeeze out parsley leaves and put it in some container. Use the eyedropper to apply a few drops on your eyelids and under-eye area and massage it. This will open up your eyes and provide a fresh look.
Cucumber mask for dark under eyes
How to remove wrinkles around the eyes? Simply! You just need to grind or squeeze a fresh cucumber and squeeze out his juice. Wet a piece of cotton tap it under the eyes. Rinse after 15 minutes.
This process can be accelerated by putting cucumber slices on your eyes. Do it every day when you have time for yourself and you will soon notice that wrinkles around your eyes have decreased.
Coconut oil for wrinkles around the eyes
We all know about the incredible power of coconut oil, but how many of us tried to wrinkles and the dark area around your eyes with it? Only cold-pressed coconut oil is needed, which you will use to gently massage your face. After a week of regular use, you will see great results.
This is another mask you have to try. Vaseline is a colorless, natural mixture that is actually a derivative of oil, but it has no smell and is completely harmless to the face. Moreover, it is useful in combating signs of aging and is often a component of many natural creams. You can find it in every pharmacy. It is known as the Korean beauty trick and we might notice that Korean women look very young, so let us give it a try.
Are homemade eye masks enough to remove dark eye circles?
They are if they are used regularly and as a preventive measure, they work great. However, the best way to remove them is to start the eye on the time. Even if you are 20 do not mistake thinking that it’s still early for you. All the bad habits will reflect on your skin later and when it happens, you will be sorry that you have not reacted in time!
